Press Release: 001, One confirmed case of COVID in Thorne Bay
For Immediate Release
Thorne Bay City staff was notified by Alaska Public Health on Friday, September 11, 2020, of the FIRST confirmed COVID-19 case in Thorne Bay. Public Health and the Alaska Division of Epidemiology are currently conducting a case investigation.
The Thorne Bay Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was notified that the patient is in isolation. Public Health is conducting an investigation and are contacting any persons who were in contact with the patient.
It is extremely important for all residents to follow all health mandates and advisories to reduce the risk of spreading the virus in Thorne Bay . These measures include:
- Maintain good social distancing at all times keeping at least six feet between persons
- Keep all trips for essential services to a minimum to avoid contact and wear a face mask/covering when you do need to make essential service trips
- Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your face as much as possible
- Do not share food with others
- If you have symptoms or have a temperature of 100.4° F or higher contact your primary healthcare provider and self-isolate immediately
