People should not come to the Flu POD if they are ill with cold/flu/COVID-19 symptoms. Everyone is required to wear a face covering when interacting with POD staff and we will have cloth face coverings for participants. Volunteers of the POD will also be required to wear face coverings when working with participants and other volunteers.

The City of Thorne Bay is accepting applications for appointment from registered voters who would like to be considered for appointment to the Thorne Bay City Council Seat A. Application for appointments are due not later than Thursday, November 5th at 4:00pm.
The person appointed to Council Seat A will serve until the next regular election, which will be October 5, 2021.
The City Council invites all the public to a special council meeting to be held on Tuesday, November 10th, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., at which time council will make an appointment to fill the vacancy.
Qualifications for City Council members 2.04.020, Qualifications of Councilmembers:
“The councilmembers shall be qualified city voters. (a) A councilmember who ceases to be eligible to be a city voter immediately forfeits his office. (b) A member of city council must keep current on any accounts held with the City (i.e., utilities, lease payments, rents, sales tax, etc.…). Any member whose account falls into delinquency for more than sixty (60) days may be removed from office by a majority vote of the council. City Council will consider financial or other hardships. (c) Any person declaring candidacy for a committee, board or commission shall not be considered until the persons accounts are made current. City Council will consider financial or other hardships. Those Council members interested in running for the office may file a Declaration of Candidacy at City hall beginning October 13, 2020 through Friday October 16, 2020 at 12pm.
Absentee voting in person at City Hall will begin Tuesday, October 20, 2020 and continue between the hours of 9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m. on Friday’s, until November 2, 2020.
Applications for absentee voting by mail will be taken beginning October 20, 2020 until October 28, 2020. The application must be signed by the applicant and show his physical place of residence in the City of Thorne Bay.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The City of Thorne Bay will hold two public hearing workshops seeking input and community comments on projects for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
- October 22nd, 2020, 6pm, will be the first workshop and will be via Webex
- October 24th, 2020, 2pm, held in person at the Thorne Bay Fire Hall located at 110 Freeman Drive.
ELIGIBLE TYPES OF PROJECTS
CDBG funds may be used for:
- Community Development (including, but not limited to, construction of health clinics, water and sewer systems, solid waste disposal facilities, docks and harbors, electrical distribution lines, barge facilities, boardwalks, removal of architectural barriers, property acquisition, fire protection facilities and equipment);
- Planning (including feasibility studies and other planning documents, but NOT engineering design costs); and
- Special Economic Development (activities associated with commercial and industrial structures and job creation – very narrowly defined activities).
