Notice of Sale of Bay Chalet Building-RFP for Building Removal Services

The City of Thorne Bay is requesting bids for the removal of a multi-use community building, “The Bay Chalet”. Dimensions of the one-story building are 30’ x 72’. There may be a considerable amount of reusable material in this old structure, including metal siding, roofing, windows, doors, etc. Any and all furnishings and/or equipment not part of the building fixtures, such as chairs currently stored in the building, will be removed and are not part of the sale.

Bids are due by 4 pm on August 26th, 2022, at the City of Thorne Bay in an envelope clearly marked “Bay Chalet Building Removal Services”. The building and all debris must be completely removed from the site by September 30, 2022.

Recruiting Workers for Road Maintenance Projects

Recruited Positions:

Flaggers, Laborers, Truck Drivers, and Heavy Equipment Operators

The City of Thorne Bay is seeking Flaggers, Laborers, Truck Drivers & Heavy Equipment Operators for project work. Your rate of pay will be determined based upon the position and your experience. We are seeking to create a roster of qualified individuals for these construction related positions who would be available for various project assignments as the need arises. It is anticipated some projects could start immediately.
Work is performed outdoors at construction sites, maintenance facilities and outside environments with exposure to adverse weather. Moderate to extreme physical demands; able to stand for long periods of time; strength sufficient to lift and move items weighing over fifty (50) pounds, depending on position; good eyesight and hearing; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment.

Position Summary

Reports directly to the City Administrator.  Oversees daily operation of the library and directs delivery of library services. Functions as administrator of the Public Library Assistance Grant (PLAG). Establishes implements and updates policy and procedure. Responsible for operating within the Library’s fiscal budget allowances. Other duties to include appointment & training of volunteers, coordinating Special Events & programs, community public relation , reporting to City Council and obtaining continuing education units as required by the library PLAG grant.


  • High school diploma or the equivalent preferred.

City Council Meeting, July 19th

There will be a regular meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, July 19th, at 6:30pm, in the Thorne Bay City Hall Council Chambers. This meeting will be preceded by a Workshop of the Council beginning at 6pm.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the Workshop and meeting.

Meetings are open for in-person attendance, so we hope to see you there. If you are unable to attend in-person, we do have meetings available via Cisco Webex Online Video conferencing. Details are provided in the attached notice.

2022 Thorne Bay Days Vendor Tents

Our Annual Thorne Bay Days event will take place on August 6th this year. We are opening up our festivities to local vendors this year.

Vendor tents will be located at the Thorne Bay Public Ball Field and Basketball Court (next to the school), Saturday, August 6th.

If you are interested in serving as a Vendor, then sign up now to take advantage of our low-cost vendor fees. Booth or outside space fee is $40 for an 6’x10’. Cancellations after July 15th will incur a 50% fee.
