Mail delays are impacting when the Passport agency’s receive applications for processing. The processing times begin the day applications are received, not the day it is mailed. Routine service times are taking up to 18-weeks and Expedited services can take up to 12-weeks.
The Inter-Island Ferry Authority is now accepting applications for an Assistant Port Engineer. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) benefited position based in Ketchikan, Alaska. The Assistant Port Engineer reports directly to the Port Engineer and typically works 8 hours day, 5 days a week. This individual is part of the team that maintains, repairs, and improves 2 passenger/vehicle vessels and equipment. Mechanical ability a must. Certificates and licenses from trade schools, machine shops or USCG preferred but not required.

The City of Thorne Bay is accepting applications for a Permanent Full-time Harbormaster/Parks & Recreation Supervisor. Work days will be Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, with possible weekend hours. Pay starts at a Grade 6, Step 2, of the Alaska DOD Wage Scale (2021 Wage Scale at G6/S2 is $21.84 an hour).
