Thorne Bay City staff was notified by Alaska Public Health on Thursday, November 12, 2020, of the SECOND confirmed COVID-19 case in Thorne Bay. Public Health and the Alaska Division of Epidemiology are currently conducting a case investigation.
Governor Mike Dunleavy announced that he is issuing a new 30-day Declaration of Public Health Disaster Emergency (“disaster declaration”) in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The declaration will go into effect on 12:01 a.m. on November 16, 2020 and will expire on 11:59 p.m. on December 15, 2020.
Governor Dunleavy is taking the following executive actions:
On Monday, November 16 at 12:01 a.m. his new 30-day COVID-19 disaster declaration takes effect. Effective immediately all State employees are to work from home whenever feasible. Face masks and social distancing are now mandatory at State work sites for both employees and visitors.
On Friday October 30th, the Inter-Island Ferry Authority (IFA) will resume operations with the M/V Stikine. We will return to our six day a week schedule, 100 passenger capacity.
