FISHING INDUSTRY - SEASONAL WORKERS - VISITORS
COMMERCIAL FISHING INDUSTRY:
The commercial fishing industry in Alaska has been deemed an essential service and part of Alaska’s critical infrastructure as an “essential business.”
In accordance with Alaska Health Mandate 010(Interstate Travel), all people arriving in Alaska, whether resident, worker or visitor are required to self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor for illness, unless you support critical infrastructure.
All travelers arriving in Alaska must submit a travel declaration form which can be done online here.
Alaska Health Mandate 012(Intrastate Travel) states: “All in-state travel between communities, whether resident, worker, or visitor, is prohibited unless travel is to support critical infrastructure, or for critical personal needs.
Industry workers that must enter Alaska, or travel between communities within Alaska to begin work on critical infrastructure before their self-quarantine period is complete must submit a plan or protocol for maintaining critical infrastructure to the Alaska Unified Command as soon as possible. The plan must outline protective measures your business will enact in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and not endanger lives in the communities in which you operate, of others who serve as a part of that infrastructure or the ability of that critical infrastructure to function.
Please submit protective plans by email to email@example.com, and use the name of your business at the start of the email subject line, and the start of the file name of any attached files.
If workers are able to complete a full 14-day self-quarantine before starting work, that is the preferred method. If not, they must adhere to the protective measures your business is enacting during work times. They must still follow guidelines for self-quarantine during non-work periods.
