WHEN DOES YOUR CITY COUNCIL MEET ?
Regular meetings of the City Council are scheduled for the first and third Tuesdays of the month beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Meeting agendas are published on the City’s Website the Friday before the meeting and posted on the bulletin boards of City Hall, Thorne Bay Market (A&P), The Port, Riptide Liquor, Thorne Bay School, Southeast Island School District, and the USFS Administration Office Building.
DO YOU HAVE AN ACTIVE PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION ?
No. The City Council performs the duties of the Planning and Zoning Commission when there is no active Planning Commission.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A JOB WITH THE CITY ?
HOW DO I APPLY FOR WATER, SEWER & GARBAGE UTILITY SERVICES ?
Contact the City Hall at (907) 828-3380, to set up your service for water, sewer and garbage.
You may also complete the application for services online by downloading the application from our forms page, and emailing it to the Clerk’s Office at email@example.com, or delivering it to City Hall at 120 Freeman Drive, Thorne Bay AK 99919.
Payments are accepted via credit card, cash, check, cashiers check, or money order.
WHAT IF I LIVE WHERE THERE IS NO SCHEDULED GARBAGE PICKUP SERVICE ?
Residents who live outside of the City’s Utility Line Connections use a Water Catchment system and install a DEC approved Septic System.
Solid Waste is disposed of at the City’s Landfill located on the South Thorne Bay / Kasaan Road, in the Goose Creek Subdivision.
Payment is received at the time of service, unless prior account arrangements are approved.

DOES THE CITY OF THORNE BAY ASSESS A PROPERTY TAX ?
No. Thorne Bay is a Second-Class City, and Property Tax is voted upon by the residents.
The only Taxes charged in Thorne Bay are:
City Sales Tax (6%)
Occupancy (Bed) Tax (4%)
