Charter Halibut Permit Available for Lease

NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY

     One Community Charter Halibut Permit is available for 2019.  The deadline for applying for that permit is April 30, 2019.  The permit application is available on the City of Thorne Bay website or from the City of Thorne Bay City Clerk.  Qualifications for the permit are listed on the application, a copy of which is attached hereto.

     Completed applications may be sent via mail to the Thorne Bay City Hall, PO Box 19110, Thorne Bay, AK 99919, or may be dropped off at City Hall during regular business hours.  The lease fee for 2019 is $1, 210 plus a $50 administrative fee.

Fisheries Association Special Meeting Notice

There will be a Special Meeting of the Fisheries Association April 3rd, 2019, beginning at 1:00 p.m., in the City Hall Council Chambers.

City Hall Council Chambers is located at 120 Freeman Drive, Thorne Bay, AK 99919.

Proposed Drafted Agenda Items Include:

  1. Review of Fisheries Association Distribution Policy for Charter Halibut Permits (CHP). (*attached)

East Prince of Wales Fish and Game Advisory Committee Meeting & Elections

The East Prince of Wales Fish and Game Advisory Committee (EPOW AC) will be holding a public meeting & elections in the Thorne Bay City Hall council chambers on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 6:00pm.

Agenda items will include the following items:

  • Presentation and Q&A about Advisory Committees with Fish & Game staff
  • Election of Advisory Committee members and officers
  • Discussion of Board of Game topics, Board of Fisheries topics

Advisory committees are local groups that meet to discuss fishing and wildlife issues and to provide recommendations to Alaska Board of Fisheries and Alaska Board of Game. All meetings are open to the public. Advisory Committees are intended to provide a local forum on fish and wildlife issues. Their purpose includes: 1) developing regulatory proposals, 2) evaluating regulatory proposals and making recommendations to the appropriate board, 3) providing a local forum for fish and wildlife conservation and use, including matters relating to habitat, 4) advising the appropriate regional council on resources, and 5) consulting with individuals, organizations, and agencies.
